In CIS we not only grow crops, we grow a bunch of passionate students. Since CIS signed off first partnership in 2017, we worked hard to integrate the CIS package into our partner schools’ normal activities.
Take an illustration. At Kanyorosha, one of our partner schools in Nairobi – they have students involved in taking care of the plants, day in and day out. When there are pests, students got worried; when there are too much rain, students got busy.
CIS emphasized self-ownership, where students take ownership of the projects, and during the process learn to cooperate, solve real-world problems and to be responsible. It has never been easy integrating our program into schools’ fixed curriculum, but we made it!
